You’re still having summer fun, but it’s time to start thinking about prepping your vehicle for winter’s first blast.
It might be a little hard to believe when you’re sweating after a round of disc golf at Elver or Hiestand Park, but winter isn’t far away. And it may even be closer than you think. According to the latest forecast from accuweather.com, the Polar Vortex will return as early as next month. You read that right. Next month. As in September.
“There could be a significant shot of chilly air that comes across the Great Lakes region and into the interior Northeast sometime in mid- to late-September,” AccuWeather lead long-range rorecaster Paul Pastelok says. Pastelok says the vortex will be short-lived for the northeast, but added that the “northern Plains and northeastern Rockies will stay more winterlike, as early snow and cold air blast the area this fall. … (The) cold may even expand southward into the central Plains and portions of the Midwest, including Chicago and Milwaukee and Green Bay, Wisconsin.”
You know what that means. It’s time to start winterizing your car or truck. You remember what that means: checking the battery, making sure you have the right amount of antifreeze, deciding whether to buy snow tires. And the people who can help you winterize your vehicle are at Terry’s Car Care. Our certified technicians can make sure your car or truck is prepared for winter. If you decide you need snow tires, we have them from all manufacturers (Goodyear, Goodrich, Firestone, Bridgestone, you name it) to fit any size vehicle. If you already have snow tires, we can check them out to make sure they’re ready to go in that first snowfall. If you decide that, well, you don’t do much traveling so you don’t need snow tires in Madison, then we’ll make sure the tires you do have are in good condition to weather the storm.
